Project #2 Final Artist Statement

My final product was about an individual going out and catching a slight cold from a night out. Once arriving home, he gets ready for bed. He showers, brushes his teeth, and goes on the internet. Before going to bed he takes some pills for his slight cough. The next morning he makes breakfast and prepares for the day. For me to get to the final product I used various sounds from the drive folder that was shared with the entire class and modified them to fulfill my vision. I used the cutting tool, fade in/out effects, as well as some effects. It proved challenging to create scenarios through the usage of only sound that would make sense to the listener. I tried different approaches on how to convey my message, I experimented with the sounds to find which one sound was most appropriate for the scenario. Ultimately leading to creating a story of an individual's day in 4 minutes and 33 seconds.

Overall, I got some mixed responses from my critiques. Reading through them, I should have added more effects and made it more clear on what was going on throughout the story of the song. Comparing my work to others, effects could have emphasized my work and made it sound more appealing. Although, I did get good comments on volume control as well as the tone of the story. For me to improve, I need to take advantage of the effects that are available to me. Generally, I just need to broaden my creativity a bit more when it comes to manipulating audio.
