Everyone should have the right to travel around the world. Visit different places, try new things, meet new people. People shouldn't be restricted from going on an adventure even if it's not far, people need to get out more. That's what my Zine project is trying to convey. I wanted to create different biomes from around the world. These different biomes all share one uniqueness, they are all special in their own way. For me to show the qualities of each biome I had to make it fun, simple, and easy to understand the illustration and image I was going to make. Each biome has its illustration with a person and objects that are a related to that biome. For example in a more snowy biome like a tundra, you could go skiing. Therefore I illustrated a man skiing down some snowy hills.
The fact that this was my first time creating something like this, was challenging but fun to make as well. Having the freedom to use Illustrator and Photoshop differently was very breath of fresh from what I typically use it for. Throughout the process, I learned more about how to use AI for some small parts as well as learning more about effects and adjustments. Something that I found particularly difficult was cropping and the size of the individual zines. It was a hassle to print, cut, and fold the zine. I unfortunately was not able to fold the pages the same so they would be equal which annoyed me. I wish it was able to look a bit nicer. If I were to do this again, I’d print it larger, but since I was having printing difficulties, I had to go for a smaller version. All in all, good first project, had some roadblocks here and there but I was able to manage my way through them. I’m looking forward to Project #2.
Note: Added 4 more Zine pages in order to reach 12 Zine pages.
